Buxton Opera House Chorus Auditions

Juvenile Chorus AUDITIONS, Buxton Opera House Pantomime

In recent years the juvenile chorus has become a popular feature of Buxton pantomimes, attracting talented young performers between the ages of 9 and 15 from throughout the East Midlands region.

Young dancers from Chesterfield, Leek, New Mills, Macclesfield, Manchester and Stockport have also regularly taken part in addition to more local participants from Buxton and the surrounding area.

The wealth of regional dance talent available has helped us to establish a high standard for the pantomime's dance numbers, and consequently the juvenile chorus has often been singled out for praise by reviewers ("The team of clearly well-trained local dancers are an added joy": The Stage, 2017).

The young people involved have the opportunity to work with award-winning choreographers and experienced production personnel, giving them a unique insight into the world of professional theatre.  Parents have also reported that participation in the pantomime has improved their children's confidence.

If you are thinking of bringing your child to our Buxton chorus auditions, please take a few moments to read our FAQ. We have now held the auditions for our 2018 pantomime Dick Whittington and have a full cast of twenty talented juvenile dancers.  If you live within reasonable travelling distance of Buxton and would like to join our mailing list to hear about next year's auditions (normally in June), please contact us with your child's name and your own name at
